I often encounter homes which haven’t been updated and need to be refreshed in order to grab a Buyer’s attention. Just as often (and understandably) the Seller doesn’t want to spend a lot of money to make the house ready for market.

Pimp and Primp will feature ideas, short “how to” articles and videos on how you can give your home a look that feels fresh and contemporary without spending the big bucks to do it.

You’ll find before and after pictures of homes I’ve listed and the details on what was done to make the home appeal to today’s Buyer.

I’ll also include vendor and product recommendations when I find a product or vendor I think is exceptional and warrants a referral.*

A Case Study – The picture shows what paint color, a new light fixture and a little elbow grease can do to make a room feel fresh and inviting.

This room was originally painted a nondescript beige. Using a contemporary color makes the room feel brighter and more inviting.  The paint was from Benjamin Moore.

The original light fixture was brass with white bulbs that had little nobs all over them. It was replaced with a fixture found at Home Depot for less than $60.

Wall to wall carpeting hid beautiful white oak floors. Tearing out the carpet and refinishing the floors made the room feel more open. This was the Seller’s largest expense.

A sloppy paint job had gotten paint on the built in cabinet and moldings. Investing a few hours to sand the wood and re-stain it as needed completed this room’s renovation.

In future posts I hope you’ll discover inexpensive things you can do to refresh and update your home. And if you have ideas to share post a comment or call  me at 206.915.1076. I would love to feature your suggestion on Pimp and Primp.
